This early nineteenth century Victorian side cabinet is made from mahogany with a warm brown timber grain and a polished finish. The rectangular top features a two-section low gallery with shaped ends and a central divider, creating two open upper tiers above the main body. The base contains four panelled cupboard doors with recessed centres, mounted on wooden hinges with simple vertical alignment, and the entire piece is raised on short bracket feet at each bottom corner. The wood shows varied figure and natural tonal variations across the panels and upper surfaces. Measuring 87 cm high by 134 cm wide and 32 cm deep, this narrow furniture item fits easily into a hallway, living room, dining room or study.
