An important portrait of Hugh Colin Smith, Governor of the Bank of England from 1897-1899. Son of John Abel Smith, Member of Parliament for Chichester and Midhurst.
Oil on canvas in its original gilt frame. Signed by the artist in the upper left corner. Sourced directly from the family it is the first time this painting has been marketed.
It is in good condition. The painting has been lightly cleaned. There are some surface marks and minor blemishes but it is free from any major damages. There are some small losses around the frame but it displays well. There are some minor historic signs of worm in the frame which has been treated as a precaution.
