FAQs

A Japanese woodblock print is a technique and art form originating from the Edo period, where artists carved designs into wood matrices to stamp onto handmade paper.

Traditional prints typically utilise handmade mulberry paper, water-based inks, and carved blocks of cherry or boxwood.

Authentic pieces often feature subtle grain textures in the paper, hand-applied pigment variations, publisher stamps, and traditional margins consistent with historical production methods.

A framed print can serve as a focal point on a neutral wall or be integrated into a gallery display alongside other cultural artifacts.

Preservation requires framing with UV-protective glass, maintaining stable humidity levels, and keeping the artwork away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
