This rug is a fine example. Both the colouring and design is very much is the Baroque style which remained popular with Russian decorators and designers. The use of only three or four colours is very striking, and also please note the birds concealed in the design, a feature of Karabagh rugs which adds a further element of charm. It is a beautiful piece which would work equally well in modern decorative settings too. Cherished through the generations, the dating to 1909 is of historic significance, and it has survived in good condition. Professionally cleaned in our workshops.
