Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George III chest of drawers dates from the reign of King George III (17601820) and is characterised by clean Neoclassical lines, fine-grained mahogany timbers, balanced proportions, and functional configurations such as two short over three long drawers.

The primary exterior surface was typically crafted from dense Cuban or West Indian mahogany, while secondary woods used for drawer linings and carcass framing included pine, oak, or poplar. Cast brass handles and escutcheons were standard decorative hardware.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-sawn back panels, irregular drawer bottom construction, and genuine age-related oxidisation on the underside and interior timber. Brass hardware may show historical pin holes or filled marks from previous replacements.

Position the chest against a neutral backdrop to highlight the rich mahogany patina, and pair it with contemporary abstract artwork, ceramic table lamps, or modern sculptural objects to create an eclectic contrast between historical and current design elements.

Apply a high-grade beeswax polish once or twice a year using a soft cloth, rubbing with the grain. Keep the item away from direct heat sources, radiators, and strong sunlight to prevent timber shrinkage, veneer splitting, and colour fading.
