Cotswold Oriental Rugs has dated this piece to the 1880s.
Circa 1880 or earlier.
This is an excellent example with the Tekke 'aina gul' design to the field. This design is normally found on small fine weavings such as chuval and torba. The rug is of very fine weave with the design drawn with precise detail, using mainly cochineal dyed wool, this was a very important item to the weaver. The main border is of the 'Flag' design or 'Tekbent' design as it is known to the Turkmen, this border is found on early Tekke weavings. Note the very well drawn large elem end panels and the remains of the decorated kilim end finishes.

The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and good pile. The rug is very fine and has a soft floppy handle.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
A superb example of Tekke weaving.
