Cotswold Oriental Rugs has dated this piece to the 1890s.
Antique tribal Baluch rug with a repeat 'star' gul design on a camel ground.
Circa 1890.
This is a good example of a tribal Baluch rug woven in a limited colour palette on a camel ground.
The border is of a simple design with an archaic feel, note the original long kilim ends at both ends of the rug. The rug is most likely from the Khorasan region of Eastern Persia, but could easily be from just over the border into Western Afghanistan.
The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium / low pile. There is slight wear to the side bindings and ends.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
