Description

Size: 3ft 8in x 3ft 5in (113 x 105cm).

Antique Tekke Turkmen rug of fine weave and small square size.

Circa 1900.

These rugs are considered to be ‘dowry’ weavings used by the Turkmen bride on her wedding day.

This example has 3 rows of 6 Tekke guls, the main border is of the star in octogen with sunburst design. The rug has excellent drawing and colour, the elem panels at the ends are of a pleasing design.

The rug has very fine soft wool with excellent soft warm colour.

The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium pile.
