Lee Wright Antiques & Interiors Ltd has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
This lovely commode has wonderful rococo lines. The shape is frequently called double serpentine or oxbow. The top of the piece has a wide walnut crossbanding. The commode features three drawers of equal size and complex shape.
The drawer fronts, like the top, employ crossbanding, stringing and bookmatching. The sides of the piece have veneers that are quartered and matched, creating a parquetry diamond effect. Standing on a moulded base with refined bracket feet.
This is a lovely example of Italian rococo furniture which has a magnificent colour.
