Cotswold Oriental Rugs has dated this piece to the 1870s.
Circa 1870 or earlier.
This is an excellent example with a very unusual and scarce design; small boxes containing diamonds with the central box containing small boteh. The lower border has a single row of boteh. It is probable that the rug is a fragment of a once larger rug or carpet; I feel that it was a small dowry rug and that the sides and top end have been reduced.

An outstanding and collectable rug with fine weave and wonderful colours.
The rug is in good condition with even wear and medium / low pile.
The rug is suitable for display and would make a superb wall hanging.
