Antique Ushak Carpet

This antique Ushak carpet was from the famous Maple & Co in London, it has a small part of the damaged label from the store sewn on the back of the carpet.  Dating from around 1920 this is an unusual teal blue/green colour and is a wonderful squarish antique carpet which would suit a traditional or contemporary room.  The design and colour palette suit the style the store purchased at the time and reflects the arts and crafts look that was popular.

Maple & Co was one the largest and most successful British furniture retailers and cabinet makers in the Victorian and Edwardian periods. They were well known for fine quality, craftsmanship and were specialists in copying old designs but bringing them up to date to the more modern trends. They produced many quality pieces of furniture in designs such as Hepplewhite and Chippendale but also were well known for their quality Arts & Crafts Furniture.
