FAQs

Mid-century painting encompasses various movements from the mid-20th century, often blending traditional figurative subjects with modern expressionist or abstract brushwork.

These works typically utilise pigment suspended in drying oils applied to stretched canvas, often mounted on wooden stretcher bars with ground layers of gesso.

Authentication involves examining canvas ageing, stretcher bar construction, pigment composition, artist signatures, and provenance documentation.

Such pieces serve as focal points and can be framed simply to contrast with contemporary furniture or hung within gallery wall arrangements.

Preservation requires stable temperature and humidity, avoidance of direct sunlight, and periodic professional cleaning to remove accumulated dust and grime.
