Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

A lowboy is a small table with drawers, typically used as a dressing table or side table, which gained popularity during the late 17th and 18th centuries.

Traditional lowboys were predominantly constructed from native timbers such as oak, walnut, or mahogany, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawer construction and pegged mortise and tenon frames.

Authentication relies on examining timber shrinkage, tool marks from hand planes, hand-forged or cast brass hardware, and the natural oxidisation of the wood within hidden areas.

An antique lowboy functions effectively as a hall console, a compact desk, or a distinctive accent piece in living rooms, pairing well with both traditional and modern decor.

Preservation requires maintaining stable room temperature and humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber surface.
