Decorative 19th century Oushak carpets from Western Anatolia continue to be popular. This lovely example fits the bill. The generously spaced design of repeating stylised floral elements and leaves is drawn on a lovely subtle terracotta background. The secondary colours are all very harmonious including the pale green seen in the border, the light blues, dark greens and burnt orange. The size is also generous in the width which is ideal for many settings. Woven on a wool foundation with natural dyes. This carpet is an ideal decorative piece for many settings. Some restoration and signs of use commensurate with the age all add to the charm. Professionally cleaned.
