Description

19th century Bidjar rugs from Persian Kurdistan are renowned for their sturdy structure and their fantastic dyes. This cute little rug is no exception. Woven with very fine quality wool and a high knot count, all the colours are derived from natural dyes. Note the lovely light pinks, blues, yellows and greens. The design is composed of the popular 'Herati' design rendered in a very nice sapphire blue which has been drawn to a spacious scale that is easy on the eye. The pretty corner spandrels make the design come to life. Note also the charming narrow borders with repeating geometric ornaments. The overall composition is very harmonious. This rug has survived in excellent original condition. The original ends and sides are intact and the pile is in very good condition. It has been professionally cleaned in our workshops.
