Size: 4ft 7in x 3ft 0in (140 x 92cm).

Antique Baluch prayer rug, with unusual design.

Circa 1900.

An interesting Baluch prayer rug from western Afghanistan, the rug has a very subtle repeat lotus leaf design, with a very clear white border. The border is quite deliberate to make it stand out from the very muted colour of the rug. We have to remember that this rug originates from a region of harsh arid lands with bright sunlight. Note the decorated kilims at both ends of the rug.

The rug is in excellent condition with even wear, and medium pile, there is some corrosion to the browns.

The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
