Antique Shiraz Khamseh Tribal Rug, Outstanding Condition, Circa 1920.

Description

Size: 5ft 11in x 4ft 4in (180 x 133cm).

Antique tribal rug from the Shiraz region, probably by settled weavers from the Khamseh tribe.

Circa 1920.

A good rug with unusual triple medallion design, the upper and lower medallions are of a classic Khamseh box design with the central diamond medallion containing two Khamseh pecking chickens. The indigo blue field is filled with small floral rosettes. The main border is a classic Khamseh design.

The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and good pile. The rug has excellent soft colours and very good wool quality. An outstand example of a Shiraz rug.

Hand washed and ready for use.

An excellent furnishing rug suitable for normal domestic use.
