FAQs

The Empire style emerged in France during the early 19th century, heavily influenced by classical antiquity from Greece and Rome, characterised by formal symmetry, architectural columns, and restrained ornamentation.

These beds were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or beech, often featuring hand-carved details, turned columns, and traditional joinery techniques.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the timber grain, hand-cut joinery, period-appropriate fixings, natural oxidation of the finish, and signs of historical wear consistent with age.

Pairing classical furniture with neutral textiles, modern lighting, and minimalist surrounding decor creates a balanced aesthetic that highlights the historical character without overwhelming the room.

Maintain wooden surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the timber, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity.
