FAQs

A chiffonier is a compact sideboard style that emerged during the late Georgian and Regency periods, typically featuring enclosed shelving below and often a raised gallery back above.

These pieces are predominantly constructed from solid mahogany or feature flame mahogany veneers, often embellished with brass inlays, galleries, and silk-lined cabinet doors.

Authentication involves examining construction techniques such as hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawers, secondary woods like pine or oak at the back and interior, and natural ageing of the timber and brass.

A chiffonier serves as a functional focal point in dining rooms or living spaces, pairing well with neutral walls that allow the rich dark wood tones and brass details to stand out.

Maintain mahogany surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft, dry cloth and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the wood, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity.
