A fine and interesting oil on canvas, stretched over board, portrait of Napoleon. The painting is after an 1812 portrait of the Emperor by Jacques-Louis David and is probably of that period or slightly later. The work is in untouched antique condition and does how some overpainting in places particularly the white on the jacket. The work is framed in a later gilt frame though the two have been together for some time. The frame does have some repair to damage on one side. The whole has a good period decorative look and is an interesting historical portrait.
