Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the nineteenth century, a pier cabinet is a low storage unit designed to fit in the wall space or pier between windows. These pieces were crafted to hold books or small objects while enhancing the architectural symmetry of formal drawing rooms.

Victorian pier cabinets were commonly constructed from timber frameworks faced with high-grade veneers such as burr walnut, rosewood, or mahogany. They feature floral marquetry inlays, cast ormolu mounts, and glass panel doors.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display hand-cut dovetail jointing, natural timber figure variations, and cast brass mounts showing signs of genuine age or oxidisation. The interior shelf supports and back panels show hand-sawn tool marks and period lock mechanisms.

A pier cabinet functions well positioned along a hallway wall, under framed artwork, or beneath a wall-mounted mirror. Decorate the top surface with ceramic vases, table lamps, or framed pictures to create a balanced focal point.

Maintain the surface by dusting regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a beeswax polish along the grain annually. Avoid placing the cabinet in direct sunlight or near heat sources to prevent timber movement and finish fading.
