An antique Tekke, handwoven wedding rug, approximately 4'5" x 4', Circa 1910. This rug has a red coloured field with three columns of guls, enclosed by borders of latch hooked devices. A supple, soft and silky, hand knotted rug, with kilim and fringes to both ends. Wool pile and foundations.

The size and shape of this rug indicates it was likely a dowry rug for a Turkmen bride on her wedding day. These rugs are known as wedding or dowry rugs.

An attractive, quality rug, in a fair condition but still very charming and with plenty of life.

This rug measures approximately 135.5 cm long including fringes, and 122.25 cm wide.

Condition:

Please see the pictures for details of the items condition. - This rug is in a fair condition, commensurate with its age. There is some wear and old moth damage to the pile. Wear to the fringes and some light soiling. The rug has been vacuumed, deodorised, and treated for moth prevention. It is sufficiently clean to use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
