A lovely Tekke ‘wedding’ rug, hand woven circa 1900 in Turkmenistan with a traditional Bokhara design on a soft red field. These rugs were traditionally woven by the bride-to-be to showcase her weaving skills to the groom and his family. Fabulous soft wool quality, great dyes and a highly collectible piece.
Size: 1.70m x 1.37m (5ft 7in x 4ft 6in)
This rug is in very good, original condition with light, age related wear. Fringes and selvedges are secure and it has been professionally cleaned.
