A Neoclassical copper engraving is an intaglio printmaking medium where an illustration is incised into a copper plate, commonly produced during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries to document classical antiquities and architecture.

Engravings were produced by cutting design grooves directly into a polished copper sheet using a hardened steel burin, filling the recesses with ink, and running the plate with dampened paper through a high-pressure rolling press.
