FAQs

Animalier sculpture refers to the 19th-century artistic movement focused on the realistic portrayal of animals, particularly championed by French artists working in bronze.

Traditional bronze figures are typically produced using the lost-wax method, allowing for intricate detail before receiving a chemical patination treatment.

Authentic pieces often feature foundry marks, artist signatures, heavy patination appropriate for their age, and construction methods consistent with historical casting techniques.

These pieces function well as focal points on mantelpieces, desks, or bookcases, contrasting effectively against modern minimalist surfaces.

Bronze should be dusted gently with a soft microfibre cloth and occasionally treated with microcrystalline wax to protect the patina from moisture and corrosion.
