Antique Caucasian Sewan Kazak Rug of Classic Design, Circa 1890.

Description

Size: 6ft 7in x 4ft 4in (200 x 131cm).

Antique South West Caucasian Kazak rug of the traditional ‘Sewan’ design, with a cruciform medallion set on a terracotta field.

Circa 1890.

The rug has a large central straight sided cruciform medallion containing many different designs and devices, these rugs are often considered to be of Armenian origin. The soft terracotta colour palette and ivory ground border gives the rug a very light feel.

The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
