Georgian Landscape Oil Painting with Dog and Cattle

A fine and early oil on canvas depicting cattle at a river being surprised by a dog. The painting is a wonderful example of Georgian landscape painting and is beautifully worked in soft tones and finely painted. The painting is in excellent condition for the age with a few very minor holes having been professionally repaired, and a very light clean. The painting retains the original frame which has a painted finish to resemble mahogany. The piece does not appear to be signed and is most likely a provincial work of the period. The whole has the most wonderful untouched country house look and is ready to hang. C.1800
