Description

Antique Tekke carpets are truly evergreen. Good examples seem to work in so many decorative settings both period and contemporary. Dating to the late 19th century, this lovely piece has a fine weave, great wool quality and a very pleasing colour palette. The 4 rows of guls are nicely spaced and easy on the eye. The velvety wool and thin pile give the design great clarity and crispness. The borders complement the field so well, complex and harmonious at the same time. It is nice to see a Tekke carpet which as retained its original ends and selvages. The pile is also in very good condition with only minor signs of wear and one or two small well-executed repairs. We have professionally cleaned it in our own workshop and it is now ready for immediate use.
