An powerful and strong work by Leonard Hunting (b.1926) a British Modernist artist who spent much of his career in France. It depicts a hamlet in the South of France, basking in the summer sun.

This gouache painting, dating from circa 1960, has lovely provenance: it came from his Paris dealers, the Galerie Peron at 5 rue Faubourg Saint Honoré.

In the UK, Hunting's work is in the collections of the Leicester Museum and Art Gallery and of Loughborough University.
