Description

This is a charming Kurdish rug from West Persia, often referred to as Kolyai. Woven on an all-wool foundation and single-wefted, it has a lovely plush pile and very nice natural dyes. The central medallion is complex and intriguing drawn in shades of pink, green and indigo. The border is a lovely light brown with geometric and stylised floral ornaments. The composition has a very good balance and is pleasing on the eye. Cherished through the generations, it has survived in very good condition with good even pile and minimal signs of wear. The original ends and selvages are intact. Professionally cleaned in our workshop, the colours now sparkle.
