What is a wellington chest?

A wellington chest is a tall, narrow set of drawers characterised by a locking wooden flap on one side. This hinged flap secures all the drawers simultaneously when closed and locked with a key. Originally designed for gentlemen's dressing rooms or studies, the form maximises vertical storage while occupying a minimal amount of floor space. Most pieces seen here date from the Victorian period through to the early twentieth century.

How do you open the drawers?
