How do I choose the right size?

Consider the dimensions of your room and furniture placement to determine whether an area rug, runner, or large carpet fits best. Leave a uniform border of exposed floor around the perimeter to frame the textile properly. Larger rooms accommodate grand city carpets like Tabriz or Oushak, while narrower spaces benefit from runner formats or compact village rugs.

Where were these rugs made?

Production centred in historic weaving regions across Persia, the Caucasus, and Ottoman territories. Specific towns and districts such as Heriz, Sarouk, and Kirman developed distinct aesthetic signatures. Village workshops produced geometric interpretations of floral themes, whereas city manufactories achieved refined, curvilinear botanical compositions.

How do I care for a vintage rug?

Protect the wool and cotton fibres by vacuuming gently without the beater bar engaged to prevent snagging the foundation. Rotate the textile periodically to ensure even foot traffic and sun exposure. Professional cleaning suited for antique textiles preserves the natural lanolin in the wool and maintains the integrity of the dyes.

What defines a floral lattice design?

A floral lattice comprises an interconnected grid of vines, trellis work, or geometric compartments enclosing individual flowers or blossom motifs. This repeating pattern creates an organised, symmetrical field across the surface of the rug. Caucasian and Persian weavers utilised this framework to balance dense botanical ornamentation within a structured layout.
