What is an occasional table?

An occasional table is a small, light piece of furniture designed to be moved around a room to hold items such as drinks, lamps, or decorative objects. Unlike large dining or writing desks, these tables serve flexible purposes and appear in various spots throughout a home.

Where were carved tables made?

Carved tables originated in workshops across Britain, Europe, and Asia, reflecting distinct regional tastes and available local timbers. Examples range from English mahogany wine tables to Anglo-Indian rosewood elephant tables and Chinese hardwood plant stands.

How do I care for antique timber?

Maintain antique timber by keeping it away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight, which can dry out the wood and fade the finish. Apply occasional appropriate wax polish and buff gently with a soft cloth to nourish the surface.
