FAQs

Early 20th-century Japanese bronzes reflect a continuation of master metalworking traditions from the Meiji and Taisho periods, often blending traditional foundry techniques with artistic expressions aimed at both domestic and international markets.

These pieces are typically produced using the traditional lost-wax casting method, utilising copper-alloy bronze that develops a rich, patinated surface over time through natural oxidisation and applied finishes.

Authentic pieces often exhibit fine chisel work, naturalistic patination, integrated artist signatures or foundry marks on the base, and the characteristic weight and cooling marks associated with historical lost-wax casting.

An antique bronze figure serves as a striking focal point when displayed on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or dedicated display pedestal, allowing its sculptural form and dark patina to contrast against neutral modern surfaces.

Bronze should be dusted gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using water, chemical cleaners, or polishes, as these can strip the historical patina and damage the metal surface.
