FAQs

Treen refers to small, functional or decorative wooden household objects made by hand before the widespread use of plastics and mass production.

Common traditional woods include native hardwoods such as boxwood, beech, maple, fruitwoods, and elm, often shaped on a pole lathe.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit tool marks from manual turning, dry patination from age, and appropriate wear consistent with historic domestic use.

These pieces add warmth and texture when grouped on open shelving, sideboards, or kitchen counters alongside ceramics and glassware.

Maintain antique wood by keeping it away from direct heat sources and moisture, applying occasional light applications of microcrystalline wax to nourish the surface.
