We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The George II furniture style, spanning roughly from 1727 to 1760, is characterised by a transition from heavy, sombre walnut designs to lighter, more carved mahogany and exotic woods, incorporating early Rococo influences and robust structural proportions.

Cabinet makers of the era typically utilised native and imported hardwoods such as oak for internal carcases, lined with deal or pine, and faced with decorative veneers like laburnum, walnut, or mahogany, joined using hand-cut dovetails.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct construction markers such as hand-cut dovetailing on drawer boxes, original or period-replacement brass drop handles matching the footprint of past hardware, timber shrinkage, and natural oxidisation patterns.

Integrating period brown furniture into a modern space works best by pairing the rich grain and warm tones with minimalist walls and contemporary abstract art or neutral textiles to create a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Preserve antique wood surfaces by keeping them away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer lifting, and maintain the timber using traditional beeswax applied sparingly, avoiding modern silicone-based polishes.
