London City Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
Below is a generously proportioned serving surface with a subtly shaped front, centred by an attractive projecting serpentine drawer.

The sideboard offers excellent storage, with five drawers of varying sizes, including two deep drawers to either end, all retaining elegant oval brass handles. The drawer fronts are enhanced by finely executed geometric mouldings, creating a particularly striking and harmonious design. The raised gallery also incorporates discreet storage compartments, adding to the practicality of this remarkable piece.

Standing on six beautifully turned, tapering legs with unusual bobbin decoration, contrasting dark ring turnings and rounded feet, the sideboard has a wonderfully refined appearance. The quality of the figured mahogany, the distinctive raised back and the exceptional scale combine to make this a truly impressive example of Georgian cabinetmaking.

A splendid statement piece, equally suited to a grand dining room, entrance hall or substantial country house interior.
