This open-face pocket watch represents the early 20th century railway style, originating from circa 1950. The piece comprises a silver-toned nickel and chrome case with a coin-edge bezel, a stem-wind crown, and a suspension ring at the top. The white enamel dial displays bold black Arabic numerals, a sub-seconds dial positioned at the bottom, black hands, and the signature "RECTA" below the twelve o'clock position. Additional visible details include minute markers along the outer chapter ring, the text "NON MAGNETIC" and "SWISS MADE" around the subsidiary dial, and minor areas of past repair near the outer edge of the dial face. The watch measures 50 mm in case width. Items of this type suit a traditional gentleman's library or study setting. Collectors place such pieces on display cabinets, desk stands, or store them safely within pocket watch storage boxes when not carried in a waistcoat pocket. The durable nickel construction and classic railway aesthetic also allow for practical use as a functional timepiece or as a decorative display accessory on a desk or mantelpiece alongside other horological instruments.

Railway pocket watches were essential precision instruments introduced in the 19th and early 20th centuries to standardise timekeeping across national rail networks for safety and timetable compliance.

These timepieces typically feature open-face nickel or silver-plated brass cases, white enamel dials with bold numerals, blued steel hands, and mechanical movements.

Authentic pieces feature clear maker marks or issue numbers on the dial or movement casing, hand-wound mechanical movements, and distinct auxiliary sub-seconds dials at the six oclock position.

Pocket watches can be displayed on a dedicated pocket watch stand under a glass cloche, presented inside a desktop display case, or incorporated into a styled arrangement on a study desk.

Store the timepiece in a dry atmosphere away from magnetic fields, wind the mechanical mechanism periodically, and have the internal gear train serviced by a qualified horologist.
