We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Meiji period (18681912) marked a time of rapid modernisation in Japan, during which master metalworkers turned traditional techniques towards creating exquisite, highly detailed bronzes for both domestic and international export markets.

These sculptures were typically produced using the traditional lost-wax (cire perdue) casting method, employing high-grade copper alloys, often with chemical patination achieved through proprietary heat and mineral treatments.

Authentic pieces generally display exceptional weight, finely chiselled surface details, subtle patination variations, and frequently feature artist signatures or foundry marks either cast directly into the base or applied as inlaid plaques.

Such pieces serve as refined focal points on surfaces like sideboards or mantelpieces, pairing effectively with minimalist aesthetics where the dark patinated metal creates a striking textural contrast against neutral backdrops.

Maintain the piece by dusting gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth; avoid chemical cleaners, polishes, or oils, as these can strip or damage the historic surface patina.
