This Queen Anne low boy table dates to the 18th century and is made from elm wood in a warm brown colour. The rectangular top rests above a kneehole configuration containing three small drawers fitted with small circular brass ring pulls. The frame stands on four slender, tapered legs and possesses a deeply shaped apron along the bottom edge, with visible surface wear and age marks across the polished wooden surfaces. The table measures 76 cm high, 76 cm wide, and 50 cm deep. Suitable for an empty corner, hallway, or living room, the piece functions as a side table for lamps, small decorative objects, or surface storage. The compact dimensions allow it to fit comfortably into smaller domestic spaces while providing three accessible pull drawers for everyday utility.

Originating in the early 18th century during the reign of Queen Anne, the lowboy is a small side table or dressing table featuring a set of drawers and a shaped lower apron. It was frequently designed as part of a matching set alongside a tallboy or chest-on-chest.

Traditional lowboys were crafted using solid hardwoods or native timbers such as walnut, elm, oak, and mahogany. Construction features typically include hand-cut dovetail joints, oak drawer linings, brass drop handles, and hand-planed tops.

Authentic pieces from this period exhibit characteristic design elements such as cabriole legs, pad or bun feet, arched or shaped aprons, and understated ornamentation. Structural indicators include hand-worked timber surfaces, uneven wear consistent with age, and original brass fittings.

A lowboy functions as an accent piece in a hallway, bedroom, or living area. It can be paired with contemporary artwork or a wall mirror, positioned beneath structured table lamps, or used as a compact writing desk.

To preserve the timber finish, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct heat sources, radiators, and prolonged sunlight to prevent drying or warping.
