FAQs

An antique oak dresser base is a traditional lower cabinetry unit originally used in British country houses for food preparation and serving, typically featuring a combination of drawers and cupboards.

These pieces were handcrafted primarily from solid English oak, frequently utilizing pegged mortise and tenon joints, hand-cut dovetails for the drawers, and raised panel doors.

Authenticity is determined by examining tool marks, hand-forged iron or brass hardware, timber shrinkage, old patination, and traditional construction methods without modern fixings.

It serves as a grounding focal point in contemporary dining rooms or hallways, contrasting modern minimalist decor with rich historical texture and organic warmth.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, and periodically nourish the surface with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
