Early 20th-century French bronze sculptures often reflected classical revival movements, heavily influenced by renowned academic and modernist sculptors who emphasised monumental forms and refined casting techniques.

These pieces are typically produced using the lost-wax casting method, resulting in solid bronze or bronze-patinated metal alloys that develop a rich surface finish over time.

Authenticity is evaluated through examining the quality of the casting seams, the depth and consistency of the patina, foundry marks, and the weight characteristic of genuine metal compositions.

A bronze figure adds classical grounding to modern spaces when placed on minimalist surfaces like stone mantelpieces or dark wood sideboards, creating a deliberate contrast between eras.

Maintain bronze sculptures by dusting gently with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid using chemical polishes or water, which can damage the original patina.
