FAQs

A Georgian painted chest of drawers is a storage unit produced during the Georgian period featuring a decorative painted surface finish rather than exposed wood grain.

These pieces typically utilised native timbers such as pine, oak, or deal for carcases, assembled using traditional dovetail joints on drawers and hand-forged or cast brass hardware.

Authenticity is determined by examining timber shrinkage, hand-cut dovetailing, period-appropriate fixings, and the natural ageing and craquelure of the historic paint layers.

Pairing the painted finish with neutral walls and minimalist modern furniture allows the historic patterns and character to stand out as a focal point.

Maintain stable indoor humidity and temperature levels away from direct sunlight, and clean surfaces strictly with a dry, soft cloth while avoiding modern chemical solvents.
