Figural desk accessories gained immense popularity during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, reflecting a fascination with naturalism and zoological motifs in functional objects.

These pieces were typically crafted using the lost-wax casting method for bronze or brass, often enhanced with hand-chiselling, applied patinas, and inset glass eyes.

Authentic period pieces exhibit natural oxidation, hand-finished detailing, heavy weight, and wear patterns consistent with age rather than modern casting seams.

Place the piece on a stack of vintage books, a wooden desk, or a mantelpiece to add character and tactile contrast to a curated workspace or study.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid chemical cleaners or polishes to preserve the historical patina and protect any delicate inset glass elements.
