Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

An 18th century oak dresser base typically features a long wooden top, multiple drawers for storage, and sturdy turned or straight legs, historically used in country houses for food preparation and serving.

These pieces are constructed primarily from solid native oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawer construction, pegged mortise and tenon joints, and cast brass drop handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural timber shrinkage, hand-tooled surfaces, historic tool marks, period-appropriate hardware, and consistent patination accumulated over centuries of use.

It can be integrated as a focal point in a contemporary kitchen or living space, paired with minimalist decor to highlight the historic texture and warmth of the aged wood.

Maintain antique oak by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber.
