A pot board dresser is a traditional form of kitchen furniture featuring open shelving for display above a base containing drawers and a lower shelf, historically used for storing pots and pans.

These pieces were typically constructed using a combination of durable hardwoods like oak for the structural framework and softer woods such as pine for secondary elements like drawer linings and backboards.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-cut joints, traditional fixings, period timber patination, and natural wear patterns consistent with age and use.

An antique dresser can be grounded in a modern kitchen or dining room by displaying minimalist ceramics or glassware on the open shelves to balance the historical weight of the timber.

Maintain the wood by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive heat fluctuations, and periodically nourish the surface with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
