FAQs

Early 20th century British watercolours often capture rural landscapes and picturesque scenery with a focus on atmospheric light, delicate washes, and naturalistic palettes.

These artworks typically utilise pigment applied to rag paper or heavy watercolour paper, often mounted on card and housed behind glass within timber frames.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the paper stock for age-related toning, inspecting the pigment for natural fading, looking for period signatures, and checking for appropriate backing materials.

Hang the artwork using traditional picture wire against a neutral or muted wall colour, pairing it with classic wooden frames to complement contemporary or heritage spaces.

Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight and high humidity to prevent paper degradation and pigment fading, ensuring it is framed with acid-free conservation materials.
