Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

A Welsh dresser is a traditional piece of furniture featuring a base of drawers and cupboards topped with open shelving, originating in Wales during the 17th and 18th centuries primarily for displaying ceramic plates and serving dishes.

These dressers were traditionally handcrafted from solid local timbers such as oak, elm, and fruitwood, utilising traditional joinery techniques including pegged mortise and tenon joints, hand-cut dovetail drawers, and board backs.

Authentication involves examining the timber for period-appropriate patina, tool marks such as pit-sawing or adze marks, irregular hand-cut dovetailing, handmade iron or brass fixings, and shrinkage cracks consistent with age.

An antique dresser serves as a functional focal point in modern spaces, ideal for displaying contemporary ceramics, glassware, or cookbooks while providing practical lower storage to ground the room.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent wood splitting, and periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber.
