Creamware is a type of fine-grained earthenware with a pale yellow or cream-coloured lead glaze, developed in Yorkshire, England, during the mid-18th century as a refined alternative to salt-glazed stoneware.

Creamware is crafted from refined white-firing ball clays and flints, glazed with a fluid lead-based compound, and fired at relatively high temperatures to achieve its characteristic durable, glossy finish.

Authentication involves examining the glaze pooling in crevices for a slight greenish-yellow tint, checking for potting rings, crazing patterns appropriate to age, and identifying characteristic weight and footrim construction.
