About the sculptor: Emmanuel Villanis (b.1858–d.1914) was a French sculptor. He studied at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, In 1885, Villanis moved to Paris and became one of the most productive sculptors of the 19th century. He was particularly well known for his female bronze busts, cast by the Society de Bronze de Pari.
